John Harbaugh doesn't seem too upset about the number of changes happening to his defending Super Bowl champions.
In an interview with the NFL Network that ran on Monday -- filmed at the owners meetings in Phoenix -- Harbaugh said keeping a team the same in the NFL is just too hard to do. The Ravens will certainly have a different look in 2013.
And that's just fine with him.
"The worst mistake you can make is trying to hold a team together," Harbaugh said in the interview from the NFL's owners meetings in Phoenix, which ESPN also reported on. "It's impossible."
NFL Network and ESPN both said that Harbaugh remembers advice from long-time Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler, who said that "if you try to stay the same you end up getting worse."
The Ravens certainly won't be the same next year. That's a lot different from what happened after they won the Super Bowl in 2000 where the Ravens pushed hard to keep that group together but it didn't pay off.
The Ravens already have traded Anquan Boldin and released Bernard Pollard and Bobbie Williams. They also saw Dannell Ellerbe,Paul Kruger and Cary Williams leave via free agency while both Ray Lewis and Matt Birk retired.?
Plus, Ed Reed's talking with the Houston Texans, and his situation's up in the air.?
Harbaugh said that even though the 2013 team won't be the same as the championship squad, he's looking forward to how good they can be this fall.?
"The 2012 world champion Ravens will walk together forever. That team will be together forever," he said in the interview. "The 2013 Ravens are going to attack the season with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind."
